EDF dual fuel discount

Noticed today when I logged into MyAccount, that the exising credit shown didn't equal the last bill credit plus latest payment -it's £2.79 more which I presume is the credit they are giving existing customers as "compensation" for dropping the dual fuel discount.
Trouble is that it doesn't make sense - the period from the last meter read date to the end of my fixed tariff is 153 days, so by my calculations ,the credit should be more like £3.35 ?
I know its a very small amount but I've looked around MyAccount pages and can't see an explanation for this £2.79 credit anywhere -anyone else had ANY communication from EDF about this change? No messages or emails received as of yet,and nothing on the last bill from November.

Could it be the new discount only comes off unit prices and not the standing charge (by mandate from Ofgem)? You only receive a 6% discount off your usage not your standing charge?

Its not from your latest read date, the DF removal comes into affect on the 31st December. The rebate is from 31st December to the end of your tariff. Not sure how its shown but it may be shown ex VAT which means it would work back to a £8.00 yearly amount, if its shown inc VAT it would work back to an £8.40 yearly amount

Bark01 -thanks for that ! it works out as £8.40 pa using 31st December as end date.:T
So, on that basis, the next bill will include the dual fuel discount for November meter read date until 31st December, as well as all the direct debit discount amount.
Having scoured the EDF website as well as MyAccount pages ,I still can't find anywhere that explains the above...still it is EDF..can't expect much else:rotfl:

I take it you haven't received the letter about it. I got one last week.

No.....can't understand why there isn't a "message" on MyAccount - a lot more sensible than a letter which is probably lost in the Xmas post!!

I just received a letter from them:

"To meet new regulation and to make tariffs simpler and easier to compare, we're making a few changes to some of the discounts we currently offer. In addition we're removing our duel fuel discount. Don't worry, you won't be out of pocket. We'll automatically give you the full value of any discount you'd normally receive, from when the changes start on 31st December 2013 through to when your current tariff ends. We'll do this by making a one-off rebate to your account of £2.79 in mid December."

My current discount is 70p per month (£8.40 per year) and my tariff is the Price Promise April 2014.
