Now then, what an afternoon I have had, all in the name of saving a few quid!! Our chimney at home has not been swept for around 4 years, we only ever use the open fire in Winter and then not all the time, when in use we usually burn a mixture of coal and logs. I have a camera being delivered this afternoon so hopefully that might shed some light on the situation!

I have, as suggested by Shegar put this thread on the Utilities board and am getting some great advice and help so I thought I would put the link to it here in case anyone else has a similar problem in the future!
