is road markings necessary for fine

Hi,
Can you please let me know whether or not is it law to have road markings for issuing traffic fine. I did not notice when i enter in one way road that they put sign for restriction recently. the place I parked there is no sign as well but opposite side showing sign for permit holders. In the whole road there is no road markings at all. can you please confirm me is it allowed to issue ticket without road markings. if possible also provide me useful reference or documents.

thanks,
iqbal

There are some situations where they can dispense with road markings, yes - CPZ's in conservation areas come to mind.

You might be better taking this to Pepipoo as they are the experts on legit/official tickets, markings and signs. Read the posting guidelines carefully and be ready to post a depersonalised image of the entire (front and back) ticket plus any images of where it happened and any other info that might help.
  • More clarity please. Its not clear(to me anyway) if you enterred the road from the correct way and what have you received the ticket for.

I entered correctly but i have not notice that they introduce CPZ in this road. MY question is there is no road markings and no sign where i parked, although there is sign in opposite side of road.

The answer is you may as well appeal and point out the issues with the signs, because if you look on the PCN, the wording on the back probably says they will re-offer the discount if they reject an early (within 14 days) appeal. So you lose nothing by trying, usually.

Most tickets can be appealed successfully if you get help from pepipoo forum and in your thread, show them pictures of the front and the back of your PCN:

Also show them a Google Streetview link to the exact place, if the signage is the same as it is now.

OK, you need to take this to Pepipoo for the best/most current advice - CPZs have very clear/strict requirements for sign placement and councils often muck this up when first introducing them.
