Help with Cat Behaviour

Hello

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with understanding something puzzling and strange our cat has started doing. apologies it's a litle weird and possible slightly graphic

He is a two year old mongrel neutered tom cat.

Bayo has always liked to knead and pummel any soft clothes of ours or cushions but with his front paws only.

For the last two weeks every night he is now pummeling my wife's dressing gown with both front and back paws, purring his heart out. His penis is also erect and sticking out, he seems to be rubbing it on the dressing gown. I'm curious whether it's a sexual act or not as he is neutered.

We have washed it, hidden it and it makes no difference, he even goes looking for it. We are quite bemused by this.

The only thing we can think of is she is 36 weeks pregnant and i wonder if he is picking up some pregnancy hormone or something?

If anyone else has heard of behaviour like this could they let me know etc..

Many Thanks
Paul and Sam

  • Hi,

I know this isn't going to help you in the long term but my neighbour has a neutered cat he's 7, never done this before, but he too has started mounting her dressing gown.

My boy Charlie is a rescue cat neutered at 7 years old. Because it was so late he is the biggest perv going! Some male cats never loose the urge
My slanky is his b*tch .. anything furry is fair game, he can hump for England.
Just be glad he can't pro -create and boff him off anything he gets attached to :rotfl:
Or you could re name him Keith Lemon
    xx
  • My youngest cat does this sort of thing, he was rather late getting the snip and it might be down to that for mine at least. He had a thing for my slippers so I had to put them away when I wasn't using them

You can try putting his favored item out of the way, but then he might migrate to something else (probably something else fluffy of hers).
Or you can put his favored item somewhere out of the way and let him have at it where you don't have to see it.... mine wouldn't quit no matter what spray/telling off/tactics I tired so I eventually relented and he has his special 'love jumper' out of sight behind the washing machine. :o

Yup, it's nasty, but he doesn't seem to...erm.... 'squirt' anything on it and I run it through the washer every couple of weeks.

Sort of 'close eyes, grab 'love jumper' with washing up gloves on, fling into machine with other items...' :o

At least he's not doing it when she's in it ;)

Thanks for that - nice to know what MAY be the reason although in Teddy's case can not quite believe this is it.

He is a very independent boy, always has been =- always sleeps on my bed at night but not with me, just where my feet are, not too keen on being picked up etc...

Hmmm - I@will just let him have THAT cushion LOL
