Placed An Order - 13 Weeks Delivery - Now in Sale

Hi
This is the situation - my dad wanted a wingback chair from next - I placed the order in early November but they said it will take 13 weeks (February) - did this on their 0 per cent finance. There is a good chance my Dad isn't going to be here by time the delivery is due :-(
We asked if we could have the shop display model and they told us they weren't allowed to sell it.
I'm now told, this chair (shops display one) is going to be reduced by 33% a few days before xmas and if it isn't sold, it will go down to 50% off for boxing day sale. Original price is £400.
There is a two week cooling off in the credit agreement but this has passed. Am I stuck with this order?
I'd really like my dad to have the chair sooner so that he may get a little use out of it. Sadly, he is very unlikely to see out this winter.
Grateful for any help.

Did you place the order online or in a store?
If online, then you can cancel the order under Distance Selling Regulations.
If, as it appears, you made the purchase in a shop then you are entirely at the mercy of any cancellation policy the shop may have.0 -

As I thought:-( Yes, went into the shop and placed order.
If I had ordered it on-line - and the two weeks cooling off had passed by, could I still have cancelled the order? The credit agreement state that they pay the money over to supplier 'after' the two week period. Looks like Next could be paid upto 10 weeks before they even deliver the item.0 -

If you had ordered online, then you can cancel the order up to seven working days after delivery.
That of course means that you can cancel before delivery.
Page 27 of the OFT's guide to the DSRs answers the credit question:What happens on cancellation to related credit agreements that a consumer has used to finance a purchase?
3.53 If a consumer has entered into a related credit agreement specifically to finance the purchase of the goods or services and if the loan is from you or from a lender with whom you have arrangements, then that loan agreement is automatically cancelled when the consumer cancels the order. Any money paid to you by the consumer or by the lender on the consumer’s behalf in relation to the agreement with you will need to be refunded to the person who made the payment.0 -

Thank you. Much appreciated. Wish I had ordered on-line now though!
Thanks again.0 -
According to the Next website, returns are allowed for store bought items. unless the chair is made to order.

I'm not sure about the cancellation of the finance agreement, but there won't be any harm in going into the store and asking or sending them an e-mail,0
