The above example is for a 94 year-old client who owes just over £6K. Definitely no student loan in this instance.

You do , occasionally I'll admit, see students who are 90 odd passing some exam or other, it makes the local news. It never says they have a student loan but, presumably, they are entitled. Is there a reasonable ability to repay clause in these loans?

Can't see why not! Unfortunately, in my example, my client has now departed this world and I will have no further opportunity to ask her.

He must be under 60 on the first day of the first academic year of his course to get Maintenance Loans. There are no upper age limits to get grants or fee loans.
