You can ask the house builders for a discount but don't be too disappointed if they don't offer too much.

Having the boiler lower than it should be seems a minor point but I agree it is a new house and you expect it to be perfect.

Would it be possible to fit another kitchen cupboard to the bottom to hide it? I have seen boilers where they have a cupboard at the top and a sort of blanking plate/fake cupboard bit at the bottom so it looks like the cupboard is sat on the worktop. Would they be prepared to fit that for you?

You need to check the plans first to make sure it is wrong.

I would speak to the sales people and make a complaint, and see what alternatives they can offer. They will probably need to escalate it to the Sales Director.

If they don't resolve it to your satisfaction, tell them it was not what you have seen in plans or the show home and you want out. (that's if you really cannot live with it)

my kitchen has been built not as designed, for some reason they decided reduce the size of the worktop from the plans, to accommodate a double door fridge freezer which i don't have and don't need space for. It halves the size of one of the cupboard, and means the washing machine cannot go where is was supposed to, it will have to go under the sink where the dish washer was meant to go, and a slimline dish washer would need to be fitted in the new smaller space.
We were not pleased, they originally said they would put it back to how it was designed after we had moved in, but they then decided that would be too much work, so have offered us a free slimline dishwasher to make up for it.
We are still not particularly pleased, we would have rather had a full size dish washer, and in what is not a huge kitchen, losing any worktop space or cupboard space is a pain, and we will be left with a a massive gap by our fridge

    What upgrades can they do?

Normally house builders have a list of upgrades they can offer, like upgrade tiles, worktops, flooring, chrome fittings, etc.

Is there one of the upgrades that you like? Maybe ask for that to be thrown in. I would aim higher than what you think you will get, so pick one of the more expensive upgrades then see if you can meet in the middle with them. Or you never know they might just offer you the upgrade without any argument.

You will also have to consider the build stage - some upgrades would be too late to add without a lot of additional work

Sounds to me like they ordered the wrong kitchen, or had one lying around, and did not want the added expense of putting in the right one.

    Shocking service.

You might be able to highlight as a snag when they are doing your completion handover. Your bound to find lots of other bits and bobs your not happy about from nail pops to the kitchen cupboard doors not being level which each other.

If there is so much wrong with the kitchen, do you still really want the house? Do you think you will get used to it in time? Or will you be annoyed every time you have to go into the kitchen for ever more?

Not sure who that is aimed at me or the OP, but in our case, although i gave a fairly long description of the issue it boils down to the loss of about 18 inches of cupboard space, worktop space and under counter space, not enough to walk away from a 3 story house over, just an annoyance.
Ideally now i'd want a double fridge to go in the space but they are far to expensive for me to justify the cost at the moment, and i can't realistically see them including one even instead of the dishwasher they're giving us

Sorry ging, I mixed you and the OP up! My comment was aimed at you, thinking you were the OP, as it seemed that you were very unhappy with the kitchen to the degree that it would always bug you.
