    you harvest MICE? GOOD GRIEF!

Mice tend to come in just after the harvest. After they have cleared fallen grain. The weather cools down and the grain inside is easier and there are barns full of straw to sleep in or cow cake to nibble on in there is no grain. The house is more appealing to the mice at about the same time the garden is less appealing to us.

The cats bring in mice year round though.

OH came home with silly looking cardboard mice traps, with glue on them. Would anyone know if these work please?

I am well annoyed, it was a bit of a joke to him until he saw mice droppings behind the bin . I insisted on sprinkling chocolate (from a cappuccino sachet set!) on the glue, but no nutella here, and I am not opening the larder to get to the hazelnut lindt thank you.

No, I don't think they work, and tbh, I think they would be very cruel if they do. A quick kill trap is much less awful if that's your choice IMO.

Honestly, open the door, the mouse can probably get under it. :rotfl:

Pluck up courage to go into larder for hazelnut chocolate. Get a big bucket and put some chocolate in bottom. Rig up bucket on a slant, so mouse can get in...but not back out. Put bucket with mouse in hubby's car next morning and release mouse somewhere.

    Jobs a goodun.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Thank you again, well I am mighty annoyed, but now he's seen the droppings for himself, he is getting the humane trap tomorrow.

Oh no, I only ate once today and that was while OH was there, I am not venturing more than I should in that kitchen .

Can't they climb back out? Will I need to slant it on something, but won't it move when the mouse climbs into it?

In my opinion, if it was in there then it probably has already got to the choc, and I don't want to be faced with its leftover dinner while it's still here scaring the #### out of me.

They cannot climb up smooth sides. Its better than nothing till you get humane traps.

Sweets, it feels just the same about you, As far as it is concerned you are eating its stash that it has found, and you are scary. You have a history with mice........

I got used to having pet mice, gerbils, hamsters, rats when the kids were small - so tbh having infestation of wild mice prob wouldn't faze me.
I do know that rodents LOVE chocolate - so any chocolate is ok to bait trap. and the one your OH got is not my idea of 'humane' tbh.
calicocat is right that you can rig up your own trap.
I don't know who to feel more sorry for...........YOU or the mouse!
