Our friends didn't bother, moved into their house and found out the roof leaked. :eek:
It'll be a few hundred quid on something you're probably spending at least £100k on?! Totally worth it!
You can actually save a few £ by asking a surveyor to do a "Condition report". This is a Homebuyers, but doesn't include the rebuild cost or valuation. We had one of these as our lender (also Santander) was doing the valuation, so we didn't see the point in our guy doing it too.
We paid £390 for a Condition Report on a £470k large five-bed house. My mum paid around £300 for a Homebuyers on a £200k three-bed house in the same area.0
