Re-scheduled flight means I miss connection

Yes you're asking too much. Your non working analogy aside, it is ridiculous to expect airline schedules to remain 100% static so far in advance.0 -
I would be a little concerned that only leaving yourself an hour to get off the plane and then from T3 to T5 would be cutting it a bit fine. Presuming BA handle your luggage you won't need to get that but you will still need to battle through the airport, and what it your flight is then delayed?
Is there anyway you could do as another poster has said and fly to manchester instead or perhaps ask for a refund for the leeds leg and take the train? I think this would be a better option.Lea0 -
It wouldn't just be cutting it a bit fine, it would be an illegal connection as the minimum connection from T3 to T5 is 90 minutes. That said, I don't see where the OP said he had just an hour to connect. As I understand it the potential options are a 4 hour layover or a 3 hour layover (not sure where the OP gets 6 hours from).0

Sure, just phone them and ask them to put you on BA4601. If not then ask if you can go onto BA6. If they say no, they say no. Just tell them that you really don't want to be waiting 6 hours. Just don't rant. Customer Services tend to ignore rants.0

Many thanks for all the replies in this thread, which I came back to today.
I took the advice about returning to Manchester Airport instead. There is a suitable 1540 hrs departure from T5 at Heathrow to Manchester. When I phoned BA.com (it took two attempts using 0844 4930787 before I got through to a person), the assistant was happy to put us on this flight instead. We will thus remain on the original, international, inbound flight which now departs Tokyo Haneda at 0850hrs.
I think this is the better option - if we were subject to a delay on the flight back home, we'd have to pay a hefty upfront train fare to Leeds from Kings Cross St. Pancras. The train fares are much cheaper from Manchester to Leeds, by comparison.0 -
I read the 1st post & thought about flying to Manchester instead of Leeds & someone else had the same idea. There is also a large coach station at Manchester airport with National Express running direct to Leeds incase the train times aren't suitable.
Enjoy your trip to Japan!0
