Humming Shower !:[

Have just fitted a new electric shower.
Mira Escape 9kw...replacement for a Mira Sport 9kw,
so all electrics are fine.
Old shower water flow went right downhill and we had to put the dial right up to get any heat at all...end result a dribble of warm water, shower sounded like it was "struggling" to draw the water through, was making a buzzy/humming sound.

Replaced with a NEW Mira Escape 9kw (chose this one as the min flow required into unit was 0.7bar) According to Scottish Water they guarantee 1 bar into property...so I am assuming that is what we have to work from...
Problem......Shower working fine, although water force from shower head isn't brilliant....this one however is making a humming sound too!!!
Any ideas folks??
Shower is mains fed and on ground floor.

We've just done the same with the very same shower unit and we get the same humming. It get worse when you press the "aeration" button, if you have that fitted? :)

  • Thanks folks.

GlynD we don't have an aeration button on ours.

Retepetsir To me it sound like the noise is coming from the tank part of the shower where the water gets heated, but I cant be certain.
the old sport was making that noise and the flow was very weak so we assumed there was a problem and replaced with the new mira escape as I said the flow is A LOT better but still the noise is there.
Stopcock is fully open coming into house and all other taps etc seem to have the same flow they have always had.
cant think of anything that can be causing the same noise in both the old and new shower
    Driving me mad !

We have a MIRA shower, too and ours "hums" a bit, especially if the incoming water pressure isn't as good as it could be.

There was a recall on SOME Mira showers to replace a component called the 'flow valve' (it looks a bit like a pump and is, co-incidentally, right near the unit where the water is heated). Give Mira a call (number's on the little booklet that the installer should have left with you - if not, let me know and I'll dig out my little booklet) and ask their advice - they might send out an engineer to look at it as it's under warranty.
