Private Landlord - Friend has Asked For Advice

A friend of mine has been in private rent since beginging of November.
They agreed a shorthold tenancy on a month to month basis.
The landlord has asked them to fumigate the place before vacating as they have a cat.
However the previous occupiers had a cat and a dog and were not asked to pay for the place to be fumigated before vacating.
Just a question, is it the landlord's responsibility to have the place fumigated?
My friend is concerned that if they refuse to do this request if they will loose their deposit.
Cheers for any advice my friend is worried so said I would ask for them!!

From £4.50/room or they could get flea spray and go round the edges of the carpet
Either way £30 would cover it most likely0 -
My friend has just told me it does state about fumigating if there are fleas present, but he knows there arent any.
The bungalow did smell very strongly of doggie smells when they moved in, and is now much better.
The fact is the previous occupier didnt pay for it to be fumigated as far as my friend knows, so can they argue it?0 -
but did the LL keep the deposit and told the ex tenants he had it done
why is on a month to month0 -
Landlord agreed to let month by month as my friend was in the middle of buying somewhere and would have been homeless.
My friend will be vacating end of december but wanted to seek advice first.0 -
How does your friend know the previous tenants didn't have to pay to get the property fumigated (or have it done themselves)?0
-
The landlord never mentioned that they had it done but the place smelt very strongly of animals when we first moved in!!0
