A Question on Letting Agent fees

These I find are astronomical, and I have just been quoted £282 by an agent in Cardiff. They have told me because my over 18 daughter is living with me it is the LAW that they have to do checks on her...She is not on my current tenancy agreement, I did not pay these fees for her a year ago, and I do not see why I have to now.
Incidentally this is the same agency as a year ago, just a different branch. Anyone any idea how I can deal with this as the property could well be perfect.

Tell them not there, ask them which lawDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

The only qualification you need to be a letting agent is being a greedy parasite. Seriously, you could open your own agency tomorrow and make up your own spurious fees.
Push back and ask them exactly which law it refers to as there's 'surely some kind of misunderstanding' (ie giving them a get-out that it isn't straight greed or malice)0 -
