could be an alarm to tell you it is too hot - is it properly ventilated? is the fan full of carpet??? (happened all the time with ours)
or it could be that it is about to die (the hard drive, that is). back up everything just in case.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

If it is a constant beeping while you are running windows i would say that it is probably your processor getting too warm. Check the fan is working ok and also make sure your pc is well ventilated.
If however it beeps a couple of times when starting up, you will need to lookup the beep codes for your motherboard.0 -
Single beep at starup means everything is OK, anything else there is something wrong.
If it were me I would open the case as soon as possible and do as others have said check the fan is working on the processor and the heat sink below it is not blocked up with dust.
I would also check the same on the graphics card fan.
I take mine out every 6 months give it all a good clean and I lubricate all the fans with WD40 or a silicon oil, you have to remove a paper cover to do that. When its done my system runs up to 20o cooler.0
