Legal representation/Divorce

My sister has been going through a difficult and protracted divorce at the local courts (3 hearings so far- ex wants 60:40 split of house- no kids). employed a useless solicitor so far, and judge has set a half day for last hearing- can't afford a solicitor) Ex has a solicitor. Can I be my sisters legal representation- court is in Midlands- do I have to inform Court, can ex object ? any thoughts?

  • I've just gone through a divorce(not what i wanted one bit)and had to go to court,so what does your sister want 50/50 or 60/40 to her,end of the day the legal costs must be outweighing what either party wants, what we are talking about 10k/15k difference take in the legal costs must be up to 5/6k by now,so the real difference is around 4/8k,is it worth it?

My legal costs cost me 5k and literally i was in there for half hour the only winners are the solicitors and what they bring into their company.I would get a solicitor in just to end it properly, does she want a clean break meaning no comebacks if someone remains in the property the other party can't claim on any gain in the property.

There are no winners in divorce and both parties will have to swallow a bitter pill im afraid now and in years to come.Might as well burn fifty pound notes on an open fire if they carry on.

The judge should rule a fifty fifty split i would have thought

    No is the short answer.

You can if you like be a MacKenzie's friend (if the court agrees) which means you can sit beside her, support her, advise her and whisper in her ear but no if you have no legal qualifications and if she is not disabled you are not allowed to speak on her behalf or argue her case for her, whether or not she agrees to this.

Didn't the OP suggest there was a lawyer on it already who was no good?
Just wondering if it's the case they don't want to waste any more money, so how is someone to know a lawyer is any good in the absence of recommendations?
It's bad enough paying out for legal fees in the first place but to then have someone who doesn't represent you well is a very bitter pill to swallow as people can do losing themselves for free.
