Apple MacBook or Sony Vaio??

Hmm.. some interesting points, I am still undecided

A lot of people like to vote for the underdog. Some of them geek out a bit and support things like Linux. There is no issue with that and their arguments that it is superior in many ways.
However, where a PC running Windows is 'superior' is that no matter who you bump into to work with, they'll have greater than a 99.9% chance of running Windows. Right or wrong, that's the reality. Someone mentioned that their Uni was Mac only, but I seriously doubt that, maybe one small wing of that uni. Even if this was the case, can you imagine all students running around with Macs? I don't really think this represents reality.
It's like everyone votes for OpenOffice, but that's biased because its free. If it were the same price as Microsoft Office, people would agree that Microsoft Office pi$$es all over Open Office. It's only the price and the anti-Microsoft feeling and that the more vocal people on the forums are the enthusiasts and geeks.
Get some opinions by asking friends about which to get. I do agree with another post here that Sony's are expensive as laptops, so if it makes the argument in favour of PC, then shop around for alternative PC laptops. One of the major arguments to go for Windows PC machines is bang for buck they are much better value mainly through sheer volume of sales.
Hope that helps!

I made the mistake of buying a Macbook last October , having never experienced Mac before. It's an absolute nightmare , not in the least intuitive and if anyone gives you a disk to run , the chances are it'll never work. It's well and truly the biggest pile of junk i've ever bought.0
