Apple MacBook or Sony Vaio??

Hiya,

I'm looking to buy a notebook ready for my 2nd year at Uni which commences in Oct. I have been looking around with a budget of around £600 at tops.

I want something fairly small and portable and with reasoanble specs.

I saw this Vaio which would work out at £539.99 after a 10% discount: http://empiredirect.co.uk/content/pr...ON-VGNC2MW.htm

And this Apple Macbook: http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObje...acbook/macbook (It's the £699 one)

I rang apple and they said after a student discount, it would work at out £601, rather than £699 which is a good saving.

I realise the Apple specs are slightly better, but then again it is more expensive. I suppose what I want to know is, if you were going to buy, which one would you go for?

Thanks smile.gif

I use macs and I love 'em, but don't get an Apple if you want to run Windows on it.

You don't get any better security if you're running Windows, regardless of whether it's a mac or a PC laptop. You're much better off with the Apple operating system, and you can use open office for docs and spreadsheets etc.

Go for the Sony. Only go for a Mac if you are only going to do basic word processing and email / internet surfing.

Everyone you know in Uni will be using a PC and a Mac causes problems once you want to start using software that people at uni give to you.
