Overcharged at Waterstones...

...only by £1 so I didn't notice it as I bought a few books at once. However, I'm irritated now - if a book says say £8.99 then that's what I expect to pay.
Is it worth the time, effort and cost of driving back into town though to get my £1 back or do I have to swallow it and be more careful in future ? Or can I take the book back for a full credit due to the overcharging ?

If it was me I would chalk it down to experience and think would teach me to read my receipts in the future.
Have done it myself in the past in Boots where something should have been cheaper due to being reduced but scanned at full price. Never bothered going back.0 -
I usually judge that by putting a value on my time and how much it would cost me to get there. A car will be about 30-40p per mile so if it is more than a mile or so away it would cost you more - just in petrol alone.
What you could try is sending them an email with a scan of your receipt and see if they would even issue a voucher for the next time you are in town?35, semi retired, sun, sand, sea, life is good
When you are done moaning remember that there are people who would love to have your standard of living!0 -
it's only money, will it cause problems if your estate is worth a pound less when you kick the bucket?0

To be honest if you bought in Waterstones you probably lost more than a pound.
Mary Berrys book is 18 pound there, 9 in Tesco:eek:0 -
I would throw the book at them...."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I just tipped my barber £3 by accident ... should I kill myself?0

It'll be worth much more - I'll be buying Waterstones shares if they add £1 to every customer's bill...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Next time you're there, go to the customer desk and they'll sort it out for you I'm sure.0
