E-On & Economy Energy
Options
Can anyone help -
I was an E-on customer and was very happy with them and i was also paying off a debt using there card meters.
In september i received a letter from them with a final bill as i was switching to Economy Energy this is the 1st i knew of this. I contacted E-on and have done so now on numerous occasions but dont seem to be getting anywhere.
I contacted Economy Energy and was told the account was not even in my name i have never had any correspondence in this mofrom Economy Energy and am still using my E-on Key.
This morning i have received an email from Scotcall who are threatening me with baliffs unless i pay the outstanding amount.
I have spoke to E-on again this morning and they were of no help, i am awaiting a call back from Economy Energy but any advice in the meantime would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi lisax38
This could be what's known as an Erroneous Transfer. This is where a supplier takes over an account by mistake. It often happens where addresses are similar.
If this is the case, you need to contact Economy Energy first. They may object if we try to raise this, particularly if they're not aware of a mistake.
Let them know the meter serial number (it'll be on the front of the meter) and your full postal address including the Post Code.
If it turns out they've taken the account over by mistake, they'll send it back to us. We'll re-set the account as it was before it transferred away.
The whole process can take a few weeks to sort out. However, if it turns out to be an Erroneous Transfer, Economy Energy will cancel all their charges and we'll bill the whole period as though you had never been away.
Prepayment customers going through an Erroneous Transfer should continue to use the original payment device.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction lisax38.

Hi,
I have spoken to both Economy Energy and E-on numerous times about this since it was 1st brought to my attention back in September and i am still getting no joy.
As stated the account is not in my name with Economy Energy and E-on or scotcall who they have appointed are threatening to send in the baliffs even though it is logged on the system that i have been trying to get this sorted since i found out.0 -
Hi lisax38
Certainly looks like an Erroneous Transfer. I suspect the account Economy Energy are trying to take over is that of the person named on their account. Unfortunately, they've picked up your details instead.
Sorry but the quickest way to sort this is for you to contact Economy Energy again. Let them know the details I posted above and tell them you believe this is an Erroneous Transfer.
All energy suppliers have a duty of responsibility to put these mistakes right as quickly as possible. There's an industry wide process to make this happen.
I'm afraid, if we contact them they'll more than likely reject our request and you'll be no further forward.
Once you've done this and started the ball rolling, talk to us again and we can suspend debt follow up whilst Economy Energy send the account back to us.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice, i have spoken to Economy Energy again last night and finally got a call back after threatening legal action. They have admitted it is a mistake and they are transferring it back to E-on again even though they have said they have tried to do it twice already. I am going to give E-on another call and see of they can put a hold on the account till it is sorted.
Thanks Again0 -
Morning lisax38
Glad to help.
When you call us, talk to our Prepayment guys (contact details will be on your bills). Let them know the situation and, in particular, that the account is coming back to us under an erroneous transfer.
Once back, they'll need to send a message to the meter to re-instate the settings as they were before. They can also stop the debt follow up.
In the meantime, you're ok to continue using our key to top up the meter.

Hi,
I have spoken to E-on this morning and they are in the process of getting it pushed through as a priority. They have also put a stop to Scotcall so at least i dont have to worry about a visit from them now.
Thanks0 -
That's great lisax38. Glad things are being sorted and thanks for letting me know. It's appreciated.

No such thing as priority with et,sDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
