Fraudulent purchase on Littlewoods account

Hi,
My boyfriend had a Littlewoods account which he thought he closed when he moved. They have just tracked him down saying that he ordered goods to his old address after he moved out and after he'd closed the account and they want the money. Do they have to prove he received the goods? Unfortunately he has paid them because he was being threatened with bailiffs and more bad debt.

I had a very similar situation, however I found out when looking at my credit history as they had defaulted me and I was turned down for credit.
Someone had ordered a settee on my account over a year after I moved. I provided them with electoral roll info from the old place and new place showing when I moved out, also a copy of the mortgage agreement for my new place and they apologised and removed the default.
As he has paid, that looks bad for him, as though he has accepted that the debt was his in the first place. Does he have any proof that he lived elsewhere at the time and had no connection to the old house (ie he didn't still own it etc) ?
  • He's living with me and my parents but I don't see why we couldn't provide him with a tenancy agreement. I told him not to pay them but he was determined. I'm not sure whether his previous landlord would be very helpful!
