Ebay rant

Sorry need to have a rant about a buyer on ebay.
Sold a brand new dress. £10 + £1.49 postage
Looked at my feedback and have a neg from the buyer, logged in to desktop ebay (usually only use the app) and noticed they have also opened a case. No prior contact to let me know there is a problem.
Long rambling message along the lines on there is a hole is the dress, it does not fit, it's false advertising etc etc they want a full refund and I better give them a refund or they will let ebay decide what a happens!! (Very over the top message in my opinion)
Had I had a message from the buyer prior leaving neg feedback and opening a caseI would have paid for them to return the item and given a full refund. I'm a small seller so any low stars will affect me and I don't want to ruin my account.
The money has been put on hold. They left me all low stars across the board even though the postage was £2.20 and they paid £1.49 and it was sent out the next day. The item was also brand new and I had tried it on and there was no holes. It's a tight dress so you would b able to see. The buyer has 14 feedback and been registered for 2 years.
I responded to the case saying let ebay decide the outcome. It has upset me and they have already damaged my stars so I'm not in a helpful mood. As I said if they sent me a message I would have refunded and paid for return of item.
What is most likely to happen? Ebay will make buyer rerun item and refund them?
Sorry about the long messages, been one of those days and this didnt help

You would probably have been wiser asking for the buyer to return for refund. I doubt anyone from Ebay looks closely (if at all) at these cases. It will most probably be an automatic response either asking buyer to return or just give them a refund without returning.clumsy_cupcake wrote: »I responded to the case saying let ebay decide the outcome. Agree.
eBay will rule the case in favour of the buyer. You will get a black mark case on your dashboard, that's way worse than bad feedback.
Click the refund when returned button now. They can still escalate the case on day 8 but they may not realise this.
In future, I find it best to read these cases and or feedback remarks, go make a cup of tea and forget about it for a few hours. Then come back with a professional clear head. You can't help it that your buyer has no communication skills, but you don't have to sink to their level. I find if you kill them with kindness it usually works. You may have even got a revision of the feedback.0 -
In addition to the above, I've had a neg removed before on the grounds that the buyer made no contact to give me a chance to resolve the issue before leaving feedback. May be worth a phone call.0

Thank you for your responses. I'm on my phone so not sure how to quote comments.
To be totally honest I don't think there ever was a hole in the dress. They had also said it didn't fit and I think that Is the issue.
I would have paid for them to return even if that had opened a case but as they have already reuined my stars with neg feedback I'm not going to.
No chance of getting a feedback revision, I can tell from the over reactive messages I have been getting. False advertised, they have taken time and date marked pics etc.
I didnt realise I could get a mark against my account, I thought that was only possible if I ignored the case.
I will ask for a return for refund so my account doesn't get damaged futher. I think the buyer seems to think they can get a refund without returning the dress. I assume if the dress doesn't come back in the condition I sent it, I can appeal this but ebay will no doubt ignore me??
Thank you again for your replies:heart2:Mummy to a beautiful little girl:heart2:

If you force the buyer to return the dress at their expense, you are more likely to get a damaged item returned to you.
The more professional you are in trying to resolve the situation, the more favourably ebay will look at any request to remove the negative feedback. If you are rude and obstructive in your replies to your buyer, they will not co operate to help you either.0 -
Can you look them up on Facebook and see if they are pictured wearing the dress.Just a thought.0

It doesn't matter if you think there was a hole or not.
If you want to protect your account, then you need to ask them to send it back for a refund.0 -
Unfortunately, eBay are a bunch of goons when it comes to returns. There's a case on here talking about a PS3 with the insides altered for a damaged version, and there's also my case where a working iPhone 3G was sent back in pieces. In both cases, eBay were very happy to favour the buyer.
I'm not sure how to overcome these things nowadays, maybe photograph everything before packaging it?0 -
Yes I know it doesn't matter if there was a hole or not (there wasnt),
If they hadnt left neg feedback I would have paid return post to protect my stars. I have clicked the return for a refund button so will see if they return it.
I've had only ever had one major problem on ebay and overall it's fine but there's a few people who you just can't seem to reason with.
They have negged me and damaged my stars now so I just have to keep seeking to get my stars back up.
Thank you for all for your responses:heart2:Mummy to a beautiful little girl:heart2:

That won't make any difference, it's still the buyer's word against the seller's. Your picture could be of a completely different item to the one you sent.I'm not sure how to overcome these things nowadays, maybe photograph everything before packaging it?
If you think you've been wronged use the 'report buyer' button, hopefully a couple of hits would mark a buyer down as someone to not be believed.
In one off cases where it's a choice between believing a buyer or a seller, Ebay have to side with the consumer..0
