Not switched yet but I just assumed Scottish Hydro was good as that's 11p cheaper on standing charge.

Be careful taking phone quotes as the call centres do not seem to have the vaguest idea whether VAT is included in their prices or not. As already said, check the comparison sites. If you pick one that doesn't have a charge to leave them then if you don't feel happy with your choice just change again. You do need to remember that you are now in the most expensive quarter of the year. I know it is a sharp learning curve for you now but research is your friend. If you are undecided you may be better off this winter (if not tied or have a penalty for leaving) going for a high daily charge and a low kph rate, then you can see what you use for heating, cooking and other. Cooking and other (like running computers etc) do not change much throughout the year, but heating and lighting are much higher in winter. Why not try very regular meter readings for a while and see how you go.0
