Debt management plan - who's best?

Hope this is in the right place!

I'm currently paying £200 into a DMP, about £40 of which is going to the company and they are shocking - every six months i get a letter from my old bank that my payments have stopped and my DMP company just tell me that its expired and needs to be set up again. Its doing my head in.

I've heard there are organisations or there that arrange DMPs for no charge - I never knew this! - but who is best to use? Any recommendations? I would even up my monthly payment to get this over with quicker. Thanks everyone!

    Payplan

As I`m a very satisfied customer

BUT I am sure all the free ones are better than the ones you pay fees to .
  • Yourself!!!! I went self managed after getting advice from national debtline and going on their Cashflow programme. It really is not that difficult and the creditors seem to respond to you better than if they are dealing with a third party! Plus you don't need to pay fees!! If I can do it anyone can and I've had no major problems! I'm almost 2 years in and I have done really well so far! Only 1 year left and I should be clear!! I have put my diary on here if you want to see how I did it and I did another short diary after the first year which may help. I am happy to answer any questions you have!! Good luck & stay positive!! xx:T

Hello there, as far as the free providers go we recommend Stepchange and Payplan.

  • I too was with a paid for DMP.

I took over my own DMP and found creditors were only too happy to deal with me when i offered then a share of the fees that i was paying to the debt management company.

Good luck with what ever you decide.

    Hi David

Have you seen the CAB one David? its just been granted a licence to make it available to all CABs in England & Wales and is going to be called CABmoney you don't need an adviser or invite and it saves everything?

No harm in giving people the choice

I agree with Getmeoutofdebt, you can do this yourself, I have self managed my DMP from day 1 with a high level of debt and have had no trouble with my creditors whatsoever.

Good luck on your journey, we're all here to help !!
