Good online English tuition

I've been looking into hiring a tutor for my DD as her English isn't up to standard and I am worried that she is falling behind. She seems to struggle and is still making the same mistakes from junior school days.
It's very expensive and I'm thinking that if I have to drive her 30 minutes to someone's house for lessons and then wait for an hour, I may as well spend those two hours teaching her myself.
I've spoken to her teacher about my worries and asked for some pointers on how we can help her improve in this subject, but after a 10 minute conversation, I was none the wiser.
I'm wondering if there are any good resources online that are helpful? I know in the past I have carried out little grammar tests on myself which were quite useful.
There is a brilliant online resource called Khan Academy but this is mainly maths and science based.
Any help very much appreciated.

A lot of tutors offer online tuition via Skype. I tutor English and have considered this myself - if you search on any of the main Tutor sites you will find some. UK Tutors and First Tutors (off the top of my head - I'm sure there are others).0
