Faulty Amazon item returned a week ago but they keep saying wait for refund

Item was faulty, picked up Tuesday delivered Wednesday but for some reason their online tracking shows no tracking details only the courier which they arranged who gave me a receipt which checking on courier website gives the reference number, postcode, time, date and name of person delivered to.

Amazon keeps saying I have to wait till their system updates as their returns department hasnt received it yet and once they receive it it takes a further few days to process, then a further 3 or so days to refund!

I am annoyed but keep getting told same thing.

  • Give them chance! They are no doubt very busy at the moment, they have up to 28 days to refund you so are currently well within that time.

30 days...and its Christmas. They *might* just be a little busy.

You're only annoyed because they wont say/do what you want them to do when they don't have to unfortunately.

Actually no, its more the processing part in that they said they only classify a item as returned when the returns department process it despite tracking number saying delivered last week, had they said they received it but it takes a week or two to process a refund I would of been fine, but if they dont process it for a week or two more they may then turn round and say 30 days from the date it was processed as thats what they consider returned.

I do understand the OP's frustration though.

To get the goods it must be paid for instantly, yet when faulty and returned they have to wait for Amazon to process paperwork and so on and so forth

I understand the busy bit etc etc
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

But you seem to think that Amazon get the money instantly... as soon as you place the order.

In reality, it probably is some time before Amazon do actually get the money in their account although it leaves the customer's account 'instantly'.

Even when Amazon do get around to doing the refund, the money will not instantly appear in the customer's bank or card account.

Once received they have 30 days. The POD into the location would be the start of that 30 days if it ever came to question in court etc.
