Can anyone recommend some cheap easy salads to make. I like coleslaw as I live alone and its easy to make a small amount. Others like this would be great for a bit of variety.0

Who ever would have thought that there'd be a use for tumble dryer fluff! Love this idea.
Spent £4.40 yesterday on a spinning class. Have decided that it'll be my last. I have to drive half an hour to get to they gym (although I do take it in turn with a friend) and as the nights will hopefully be getting lighter soon will soon be walking back and fore to work so that'll be a cost saving plus hopefully a waist whittler!
I'm amazed at how simply thinking about what I'm going to spend is saving me money. I'm sure I'll have extra cash for debt repayment at the end of the month.0 -

Another salad I love is roasted butternut squash (cooled) with mozzerella cheese and rocket yum. I know rocket isn't cheap but a bag can go a long way.Pay off Car Loan £17,047 £10580 by Christmas 2022

I often have a topsy turvy day when it comes to eating :rotfl:"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
I spent some money but am not counting it as it was from my free amazon coupons, so no impact on my bank balance.
Ah yes but you are still spending money.
I used to think the same as you but it lulls you into a false sense of security when it comes to spending."One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Evening all
Thanks for the replies about the wool - I'll have a look at the sites ta  I did join Ravelry the other night as it goes as I wanted to have a nose around the crochet patterns. I'll have a look at the forum too to see if any inspiration hits there too..
We don't have elderly family really anymore. The current 'oldest generation' (if you can call them that) are in their early 60's.
I did wonder about making a blanket for my Mum as she really feels the cold, as well as seeing if I can make her some wrist warmers as she has Reynauds, so wondered if it would help help her warmer at home. Buuuuuttt.... that won't help her fingers and I'm not tackling fingered gloves, lol...
Other than that I wondered about a light shawl for summer holidays, or a heavier one for indoors in winter. Maybe a slouchy hat and/or scarf? Once I 'twig' a pattern I'm good to go, but I tend to get blinded with too much choice or thinking things are too old fashioned.
A bit like my garden - too much choice of what veggie seeds to plant where so I sowe and grow and leave Mr Shortie to choose where the stuff goes :rotfl:
I bought some wrist/hand warmers from Primarni last year for about £3 that went over hand like gloves but no finger slots. I would imagine the pattern would have been fairly straightforward, just a thumb instead of thumb and four fingers.Another NSD here for me. I'm back at work so head down and busy with that, no time for anything else.
The freezer looks good and I have most staples in to do until the end of the week.
The youngest (3yrs) got his first birthday party invite today so have a present to find for that on Saturday but I can usually find something nice from Orchard Toys, a card and a sheet of wrap for *just* under a tenner.
If you catch Amaz0n on a good day, I used to get shopping list game or similar for under a fiver then buy cards in a pack to save money so would only spend about £6 on presents in total. It gets expensive when they start getting invited to parties. We;ve got two this month.0 -

Birthday Present Ideas
For presents, The Book People sell packs of 10 books for £10 like this set (don't forget TCB or quidco)

Excellent value which you can split up and always have a stock of presents
I love books and I always appreciated it when my children were given them as presents"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Good morning
Think I have the most jumbled up lunch box today lol
I have couscous left over haricot beans, sprouts, cucumber, tomato, cheese cubes, raw mushrooms (my fav) and pork pie chopped up.
Everyone in our household is back at work/college/school so all lunches taken from the house and hopefully the electricity usage will drop!
Plans for today are swagbucks daily total, knit cardigan, try and work out my blog, and finish off the card I am making.
Hope everyone has a great day0 -

Thanks both of these sound great. I am in Australia but I think you can get a bag of rocket for $2 which isn't too bad. The problem is when your on your own eating it before it goes off or before you get sick of it ...0
