Aww thanking you very muchly DawnW.. feel daft having to ask at my age, will give it a whirl.. hopefully will be cheaper than the tins i buy for work at the moment, though fridge bottom soup today would consist of 1 tin of stella and 2 bottles of bud.0

Your fridge obviously has a far more interesting life than mine - though there is a part bottle of wine in there
I have just put a pot of soup on for lunch (inspired, after writing it out :rotfl:) consisting of 1 onion, 1 potato, 1 carrot, 1 stick of celery, a couple of table spoons each of lentils and pearl barley, a tin of tomatoes and the leftovers of a joint - just a small handful of gnarly bits that didn't get used up in sandwiches. Found some bread rolls in the freezer, looking forward to lunch now! Just right on a day like this0 -
Getting organised for going back to work today. I have done some baking - made 2 fruit crumbles and some lemon buns. I have also made lunch for the next 2 days which will be bruschetta (HM bread with tomatoes and roasted pepper topping).
I now need to think ahead to next week and what I will take to work for lunch - there are some baking potatoes in the cupboard along with some cabbage so I will probably have a couple of days with Baked potatoes and HM coleslaw.0 -

I never think about making coleslaw but I think that I will now. Thanks for that allie23 My parents are coming for tea and I am trying to use stocks instead of going out and spending. I was thinking about going to buy some coleslaw but don't need to now.0 -

There are some great recipes for HM Coleslaw on the Grocery Challenge recipe index. The one I use has white cabbage, gated carrot and a mix of mayo, Greek yogurt and crème fraiche for the 'sauce' - it is gorgeous.0 -
That's my meal planning done up until next Friday. It works around using up bits and bobs in the freezer and cupboards. I will need to have a small spend but it should be less that £10 all in so I am pretty pleased with that.
Next week I will have to spend more since most of the stuff in the freezer and fridge will be used up.0 -

Well I woke up this morning with an idea of what I could make with some Stilton I froze after Christmas and for the life of me I can't remember what it was!
How about broccoli and stilton soup? It is so rich that it feels super luxury.
I remembered half way through doing the spare room,
It wasn't soup but Stilton and something scones can't remember the something lol
Fancy making soup now as well0 -
....ok how do you make coleslaw? I didn't know it had potato in it.....oh hang you mean to eat with the potato? ok. but is it literally just cut up carrot and cabbage? what's the white stuff?
I could google but I did warn you all I would ask lots of stupid questions.
I am waiting for a guy to come pick up the hutch I am currently selling.
he said between one and two but am antsy till he arrives.
sometime later - he arrived! He paid his 25 quid and I am very pleased.
nice man, with his father in law I presume, as he was northern and his "dad" was definitely a local!
I always want to ask how people end up down here from up there...... but I restrained myself.
xxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -

My coleslaw is grated carrot, sliced cabbage (preferably white cabbage, I have made it with savoy and it wasn't as nice) with the sauce made from mayo with salt and pepper. Occasionally I put a dollop of mustard in it to liven it up. Preferably whole grain cos I like the wee bits in itCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
