And you will get any redundancy pay paid by the government as well.
Depending you can also get pay in lieu of notice, which is what my hubby got as well.

It all does take time, if this hasn't happened talk to ACAS as they will be able to help.

We got everything minus deducations ten weeks after he was made redundant via the govt so all paid up thankfully and everything caught up and paid up. The aim now is to make sure if we hit something like this again that we have a softer cushion to land on :)

I have used Approved foods for the first time this week, a lot of stuff is short dated, but a lot if it isn't, huge savings, so will buy some stuff from there on a monthly basis, (this month I saved £25 compared to buying it in tesco as I usually would)

I've saved hundreds with Approved Foods on packed lunch stuffs and cupboard staples.

Well, my bread maker did it's thing, and I have produced my first ever loaf.

I have to say, I'm completely delighted, at the perfect looking loaf that emerged, and it tasted great too. I think I will need to practice slicing the loaf, but for a first attempt it was a success.

I made a large sized loaf, but next time I will try a medium, as it'll give a slice size that will be near to what we are used too.

  • Finally done my freezer inventory! Now to do the meal plans though they could wait till tomorrow as I am trying to knit my cardigan (I forgot how heavy the needles are when you knit with super chunky wool!) homemade wine and ale bubbling away nicely and have hm apple pie cider to bottle tomorrow. I'm actually excited for New Year's Day as I will be organised and either debt free or very close to debt free this time next year

Did you leave the loaf to cool completely before slicing?

That is a real exercise in self restraint I find :rotfl:

I left it a couple of hours before I started sliciing. It did seem to be cool.

I think any difficulties were probably due to me being cack-handed!

Coming out of lurkdom as I literally just had an email saying January 12th

Am really tempted to try this this year but have always been sceptical. Would love to hear of people's experiences on these amazingly inexpensive breaks! xxx
  • The sun holidays are great, we always go to the Haven sites as the kids love them, always plenty to do and I think every one is by the sea so lots of beach days too (weather permitting obviously!) There are 6 of us, so it normally costs £57 to the paper to book, then we get an invoice for about £60 from the park for the entertainment passes, electric etc, so it costs £117 for a 5 day break for 6. The last few years, however, we have been upgraded as there hasn't been enough allocation on the standard caravans and as we were one of the first to book owing to me being sent a bonus token, we had the privilege of being upgraded to a better caravan :) I would definitely recommend them, although we won't be going this year due to lack of spending money and my lovely other half wants to go and see his brother in France in September which means sorting all of our passports out!

    Evening everyone

First day back at work today and I feel like I've never been away!

The day started really well as the bus appeared to have taken the day off, had to wait 45 mins for the next one

On the plus side the soup I made yesterday turned out really nice so took some to work for my lunch. I also resisted the urge to spend 20p on a cup of hot water for my tea from the canteen and waited until I got back in the office where I get it for free (supply my own tea bags), not a huge saving but it's a start! :rotfl:

Called into our local co op on way home and found a bag of brussel sprouts reduced to 10p...I snaffled them :T:T

On the negative side, when looking through my food cupboards last night I found another 3 things which were out of date, none of which I am prepared to discard (have eaten one lot for tea tonight)....however, it does raise the point of why am I buying all this tinned/packet food if its not going to get used :(

Think I need to have a serious think about what I'm buying
