  • Hi

It is really quiet on here.

DH and I have been looking at older motor homes for holidays, which we love. A huge part of our annual spend goes on holidays and we are considering an alternative that would give us more flexibility. We have some money saved but I don't want to spend it, so confused........

On a lighter note food has been stretched and we are reducing our monthly food budget.

Have sent a reduced extra payment to the mortgage this month as we have taken on more life assurance.

Did I tell you all that we have an allotment? This is recently new to us, so despite the initial spend hopefully it will work out!

    Fingers crossed!

Thank you cw18 and Kerry Woman. I've managed to half my debt (finally) took out my DMP in November 2011 and thanks to the inspiration from the frugallers on here, I have managed to squirrel away a whopping £950 overpayment on my agreed amount since January.

I do need to tighten up a bit as I would ideally like to clear the rest of it sooner than the estimated date.

My loan is still on target for being cleared in 9 months, and I am currently concentrating on minimising usage of the credit card so it can be cleared faster. Even if I only manage to tread water re credit card then once the loan is cleared I will be able to ramp up the credit card payments considerably. This month the credit card has not been touched and I hope to have a much lower spend as I save for a big online shop, that could get me through most of next year as well. Overall my grocery budget has fallen considerably over the last few years as I switch to far more of a making everything from scratch.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

kb_soma - Have you decided what you are going to grow on the allotment? I am sure it will work out alright.

Not having such a frugal time, as the lamp l have lusted after was in the marks and spensive sale at mega saving, and my won't power evaporated on the spot.
I must learn how to e-bay stuff, so l can make the outlay back.
Now, sun is up, and there is washing to go on the line, so off to do that, and top up the caffeine xxx

Hello all, haven't posted for a while but have been reading posts. I'm doing really well! A slight hiccup as had to pay unexpected car repair today and a cousin has got engaged on her birthday so another cousin has had a scoot around the family to raise funds to buy them a trip to Paris!!! I can't afford to contribute! I think this is an awful lot to ask :( not sure how much I am willing to contribute yet- will have a think about that one. Have been through the Christmas present stash and only have 2 grandads and the in laws to buy for on the family and friends side of things. Gathering a few bits for my daughter as I go but will get the bulk of hers nearer Christmas when the vouchers from the Xmas hamper arrive. I wanted to do a little glass jar of sweets for each child in the family and decorate with nice ribbon and a name tag- does anybody now where I get nice airtight jars a cheap as possible? Hope all is going well :)
