  • So..........Monday it is then for giving up the fags!! We will all be watching you and encouraging you. Just think of the money saved!!

My vice is wine and would save quite a bit if I didn't drink but hey...I enjoy it and make some of my own even if most of it gets used for cooking :D

I did think of putting something in writing to be signed by both parties but didn;t know if it would stand legally if we did have a problem.
    Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £60

Had a letter through from Scottish power who I changed from last November saying they owe me money! No mention if how much but considering I already had 300 back when I closed the account I dont expect much but any refund is better than none.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Bought too much at the auction :eek:
Made scones and used up all the nasty yogurt :)

I did cheese ones for a change, which were very nice - we had some for lunch, rest are put away in a tin out of [STRIKE]temptation's [/STRIKE] harm's way :D

Washing dried on the line - no rain yet here (though it did tip down in the night)

Slug traps that I bought from ebay are now in place and filled with beer. We only had Carlsburg - hope they like lager :rotfl:

Chilli now also eaten, dog walked, shopping list to do for tomorrow.

Have a good evening everyone x

Although I went out to two venues this evening it was still a nsd. One was a meeting with friends and the tea/coffee were free, next was a visit to DD's pub where she also made me a cuppa - I don't drink alcohol - and as soon as I walk in at least one of the customers say 'Mum's here, put the kettle on' :)
I've been thinking about getting some help in the garden this year as I have arthritis in my hands and COPD, but have been pushing myself to do a bit each day, weather permitting, and am surprised how much I've achieved over the past month. Nothing like remembering gardeners charge £12/£15 an hour to make you get on with it yourself!
Wishing you well icontinuetodream, as Kantankrus Mare said you'll have every support and encouragement in your bid to feel fitter, enjoy your food, and save a fortune. Couldn't believe how much a pack of cigs are today, almost £3k a year which is roughly my annual spend on everything, food, bills, petrol etc. Enjoy spending/saving for the things you want :)
  • Evening Frugalites! xxxxx

Hope everyone's weekend is going OK? I've had a lovely day today - my friend and I went into Liverpool, had a nice brunch then went to a huge vintage fair where I bought a lovely dress for a tenner. Then we went to The Cavern which is free to get in during the afternoon and had a couple of drinks whilst watching a couple of Beatles covers bands. Always a pleasure!

So Im doing loads better Frugalites. What a mad few weeks.
Awful stuff - had a number of relatives and family friends pass away. Plus our house got burgled whilst we were asleep in bed. Police are doing there best but Im not expecting them to find the people who did it. The 25th anniversary of Hillsborough has been very difficult too.

Really lovely stuff - Mothers Day, Easter and my mum's 70th birthday. All these occasions have enabled us to have mini family reunions which has been great.

Frugally speaking - not doing too well to be honest. Have had to spend a lot out but have just got on with it. So, lets see May as a new month and chance for a fresh start!! Ive got lots of uni work to do in the next few months so I won't be out and about spending cash that's for sure!

Thank you everyone for all your encouragement and suggestions on the quitting smoking front! :D

I am going to join you lynnejk on Monday! (and well done on the haircut bargin!!:D ) I have felt really rubbish for the past couple of weeks due to illness (and a few other really stressful things) and I don't do being ill well!!:o

So, I have decided that stopping smoking will coincide with a general health kick....cutting down on alcohol, drinking more water and eating better....Monday is the best day for me to start because I still have fags left, can't stop when I have some and can't bring myself to get rid of what I have!!:o !!
Hey - that's fantastic :T I'm sure you'll do well but don't try too much all at once and send your system into shock :rotfl: I know you'll get loads of support on the threads on here. Good Luck

God I feel such a fraud posting right now. I'm anything but saving money right now. This was supposed to be a frugal weekend but it's been anything but...

A combo of a longish day at hospital yesterday, having the boiler replaced and the inlaws over meant I got in a take out for dinner as were late getting our kitchen back from the plumber and there was brick dust everywhere anyway..

We also realised we needed another bag of bark chippings and more weed supressing membrane so more spends there

Today the boiler was finished so I spent today putting the kicthen back together and I then bought lunch out for the boys and the MiL after which we popped to town and I picked up some lovely bowls, and soup mugs from a charity shop, plus some activity books for the boys when we go on holiday and a lovely super cheap £3 budda canvas for home

Far from frugal and essentially that's all my money gone and I've only jusslt had pay day. I'm being a money nightmare at the moment! :-(

    Morning everyone

Last day of my hols today and weather doesn't look that promising :(

Might just stay in and read/cross stitch so no spending today.

Had haircut yesterday as planned but didn't bother with hair dye, it doesn't look too bad yet so can go another 2 weeks before I need to colour it.

I did however end up spending more than I planned as discovered after standing in a puddle that the sole of my shoe had split in half :rotfl: so had to buy new ones, so that was another £10, then when I called into local co-op they've reduced their frozen salmon portions to £2 a bag as they have a April 14 date on, bought 2 bags and squeezed them into the freezer. I loooove salmon :T

May go back later in week to see if they have any left as should be able to fit them in freezer by then (so much for using the stuff up, everytime I take something out I fill the gap with something else!)

pm, you sound like me with your freezer, thankfully ours is a little empty at the moment, could really do with defrosting the small one but will probably end up buying somethings reduced before it's empty enough to defrost.
Need to do a shopping list as it's both our sons birthdays this coming week and next so need to buy all the bits for their party a week today and buy them cards. we've got all the party bag stuff sorted so not too much to spend
