I am planning to do the same. With what I have already I have months of food in there, so am trying to use up all the YS items that I stuck in there.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

Plans for the next few days:
    1. Cases emptied and washing done. Clean clothes put away.
    2. Iron bedding.
    3. Start daily walk/run programme.
    4. Open a new ISA.
    5. Food plan and shop.

Well that's us home now and cases are emptied and washing in the machine. Weather not great so doubt if I will get them out on the line.

Welcome aboard Merry I am sure you will find this thread really useful.

    Welcome Merry :)

2 nsd/npd's. Tonight I have to go out but only locally so minimum fuel and £3 subs. Not too expensive for an evening out.
Next door's teenage DD helped me with the garden, she earns some pocket money and I don't have to pay a professional - we work together and I don't make her do as much as they would! She said this morning how addictive gardening is, hopefully it will be a lifelong interest for her
Missed the weekly shopping date/lunch with my DD this week so a definite saving, even though I love our time together
Very little else to report, just the usual frugal day :)

    Welcome onboard Merry!

Me? Well, a couple of frugal days with food brought in from home

I bought some Freddo chocolate bars at the weekend to stash in my drawer - I raided them yesterday and will raid one again I recon soon with a cuppa. I need a comfy chocolate hug (in the absence of a real one - I suspect I'd get odd looks for colleagues if I asked one of them for a hug, lol) So I had the informal chat about the role last Friday and there were all the right sounds from both sides. I asked yesterday about the salary after realising it wasn't a total no-no (and I'd be quite likely to get it if I applied) and I was emailed over the figure today, with a covering note of 'let us know if you are interested, and let us know your current salary' as I guess they realise it's lower than my current salary. And it is. Lots - unaffordably so. So while I'm sure they have some 'give' in the salary, I seriously doubt there would be that much. Which is gutting as I'd have loved the role and the things in that area that I would get exposure too and could progress into

    Bottoms

I haven't replied to the team head over there yet as I don't really know what to say... I can't call our HR from my mobile as 0845 numbers aren't included in my tariff, and I'm not calling from my desk phone, lol!! I'm waiting for someone I have emailed in HR to come back tomorrow but not sure she'll know the answer either, and I don't want to stay silent too long to the chap upstairs about the role.

Yes, my name is Shortie and I'm a catastrophizer.

  • Hello Merry :) I also have a cookbook addiction :D I daren't count mine for shame!
Weekly shop was £15.74 thanks my april challenge but I swear the freezer isn't emptying! I also wanted to find whats at the bottom so I could stock with things I've figured out are useful rather than space stealers, I think I may have to take another couple of months to get there!

    Evening All!!

Haven't a clue where I am budget wise.

On two doses of antibiotics for a tooth infection which is into my sinus canal and needs an extraction and probably loads more work.....Eugh so fuzzy headed :( but logged onto emails tonight and thought I would check out my spam.

I have been accepted onto Shoop & Scaan - whoopee :j so some more income - a little can go a long way when youre being frugal/sensible LOL

Had Jack's Diet Cola Chicken sauce with Sausages the other evening - yummy - so slowly working my way through her book - good fun. For once there have been few complaints from the grumbly tummies.:)

Hope to get some more cooking / experimenting done over the weekend. I feel a bit selfish but DD's Granny has offered to give her spending money for her school trip and I've said that she should not be spending her money like this but secretly I'm going yeah!!! :j Means we dont have to fork out all of the permitted funds ourselves.

DS is shaping up nicely - last week in Aseeda she was down on her knees looking for loose change at the self serve checkouts!!! She got a penny (Roadkill) - but she now goes looking for her and her brothers weekend sweet treats by checking out the price / g on the shelf label and then checks the bag to see which has more in it anyway weight wise!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

    Thats all for now folks

Oh Goldiegirl I'm so jealous, my OH hates water and I've been looking longingly at the cruises!
    !

The weird thing is, once you are on board, the ships can be so large, you actually forget that you are at sea!

Maybe it'd be worth trying to get him on to a weekend cruise, so he can try it out
