well after a whole weekend of NSD I am finishing the month in credit. I have still got money in the housekeeping purse, so that becomes reserve. If April goes over, I use it. If it doesn't I put it in the savings fund, and use any of Aprils as overs in May, and so on.
Might bag another NSD today, too, unless I have to get bread.
This hour has still got me confused, I don't respond well to early mornings, ah, well, up and at 'em the school run beckons!0 -

Hi lynnejk
Morning (or should I say afternoon) all

...because I'm with mrsinvisible. One of my favourite expressions is 'I don't do single figures in the mornings'. But being retired and a night owl it's lovely not to have to worry about being late for bed, or late getting up, any more
Not sure how to define my personal spend as I live on my own and everything I buy is for my pleasure, ie the house, garden, mutt, and the very occasional something from a charity shop. But I was spending too much at the local garden centre so last year I browsed the £shops for offers. I bought 5 pot stands on wheels, a bag of seed potatoes, a grow your own box of mushrooms, a peony, Love Lies Bleeding, and 6 solar garden lights for £15. All still going strong so am looking forward to my next shopping visit there
Was sent a large bottle of cleaning product to trial this morning, rrp £3+ so it was going to be a good saving until I read the ingredients. Trying to do my bit and be as green as possible so I'll stick to my bicarb, soda crystals, vinegar etc.
Checked bank accounts this morning, this :j sums it up.0 -
Today I've taken delivery of my steam mop - the last household applicable that I intend to buy for a while. We've wanted one for ages, so decided to take the plunge now, so we can concentrate on frugality for future months.
I'm very impressed - we just did a trial run on the kitchen floor. It was quite embarrassing to see how dirty the pad was!
A new month tomorrow. I'll start the month with a grocery delivery tomorrow morning, but it has been three weeks since my last delivery.
Hopefully we should be in budget this month. We have a weekend away later in April, but as this is after the 20th (payday), it really falls in next month for accounting purposes. But it'll be interesting to see how the budget copes with a weekend break.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Last months current account spend was down significantly and I am happy about that. The credit card spend was not so good, but overall the balance is no worse than the month before so treading water really. This month I am trying to cut that back as well, but the overall trend is good. Food stocks are high and the YS bargain raids are stretching out my budget still further. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0
