I would look on eBay or Amazon. Though you might find them in a big supermarket or outdoors store. Personally I would opt for the steel ones as they are more rugged than glass ones. Also if you have a large flask have you considered just filling it with hot water and taking the tea coffee milk and sugars in small containers. The advantages are that the flask remains clean and you have the flexibility to change drinks if necessary. Sugar can be sourced at any takeaway where you see the sachets, just grab some extra when you need them.

Great idea about just having hot water in the flask and about using sugar sachets. Thanks for the tip!
  • Thanks Dizzy Lizzie.
Been out knocking on doors job hunting today. Nice in the sun shine :)

Spent £4.40 in cafe to thank a friend for driving me around. Had already applied to it online so wanted to see if I liked it and yes it was a lovely place to work :D

Leftovers for tea. Like the sound of butternut squash cake so I reckon that is a job for tomorrow.

Finished off 4 lengths of bunting too so all in all a great day :D

After the encouragement here, I have been exploring Swagbucks again. Thought the main page was just offers for buying stuff, but after someone mentioned ''surveys/videos on home page" I hv looked further and found a survey for 70 SB. Just completed it. As it says points will be added in 3-5 days, does that mean it doesn't add to my daily total/goal? Or will it suddenly appear there in a few days and give me a head start one day?

Understanding it a little more I think. Put video page on, and although 3 SB isn't much for 10 videos, I found I could do it while making/eating lunch easier than necar ads, as you didn't have to keep clicking the screen while watching.

I also found the health and fitness section, and ran a few yoga videos, so did 10 mins of exercise at the same time!

That's right sometimes it shows instantly and other times takes a day or 3 I cashed out the other day and left my account with 3 bucks then next day I logged in and I had 73 and forgot that I did a survey and it hadn't registered straight away so that was a nice start to hit my daily bonus :-) I am finding that the amount of surveys is picking up now but I still get screened out of loads of them :rotfl:

    Feeling the Frugal vibes today!

Trying to do the same with wet wipes, cut cloths half the size, wet them and put them in a zip lock type bag. They were fine for a week or so, but now starting to smell at bit 'off'! Any suggestions? Should prob google homemade wipes...

    .

Try boiling them for a couple of minutes then putting them in the ziplock bags when they're still steaming hot. Keep them in the fridge too.

  • Evening all. I got caught by the b00ts 70% sale today! After resisting fr so long! Although I bought for all of the ladies on my Xmas present list as well as mothers/nannys day present for my mum and bday for my mum all for £21. I've put them all in a box with the other bits and pieces I got in Xmas sales and written a list of everybody, there are more names crossed off (finished buying for) than not- which is great! The reason for venturing into boots was for vitamins (ran out today), we have a combination of two types each £4.49each full price but today they were in their 3 for 2 offer as well as being reduced to £2something. Basically got 3 months supply of both our vitamins for £12! Fantastic! I filled up my car today and will not be doing so again until 20th next month. Ticking along quite nicely but with conscious effort- I'm looking towards the days where this way of life becomes the norm.

NSD for me again today :)

I am sitting by the woodburner with a glass of wine waiting for OH to dish dinner up - snag is I will need to blitz the kitchen afterwards, as he has trashed it, grease everywhere, cooker, floor.... The most worrying part is that it is Thai green curry, not even something deep fried :rotfl:

continued... well it was 'interesting' :rotfl:tasted ok but a bit dry and he hadn't chopped the spring onion and coriander garnish, just cut the onions into big chunks and put on whole coriander leaves / stems

Well, I won't fancy eating that again in a hurry :o

I hope he gets over his new found enthusiasm for cooking soon!

Anyway, off to clean up, and early night as I have to be up at 5.30 tomorrow
  • So hope I can keep this up its the 20th of the month & Ive still money in the bank!!! I honestly cant remember the last time that happened. Now just realised its a friends birthday tomorrow & Im off to arm knit her a quick scarf out of my stash...normally it would have been a trip to the shops. Thank you all for the hints & tips

Its been a NSD for me as we've eaten left over party food from yesterday and spent the day making money doing surveys. Ive had no energy to do a thing after my 7th night consecutively of only 5hrs broken sleep :( went to bed nice and early to be woken at 00.30 by my phone ringing. It was my sister calling from Bolivia, I ignored it thinking she had misjudged the time difference but then she called back immediately so I knew something was wrong. I answered and she was crying, her boyfriend had dumped her in the middle of a rainforest and she had no money, no water and was miles from her hotel. Anyway, after 3 hours of phone calls and bank transfers, some lovely bus driver took pitty on her and drove her to the town where her hotel was for free :) I really hope she leaves her boyfriend now but she cant face the thought of coming home, she hates Britain and they had plans to live in NZ for a year before settling in Oz again. I have a horrible feeling she will stay with him(hes Aussie) until they settle in NZ and she gets some money behind her :(

Anyway, so no sleep meant a very unproductive day feeling very tired and suffering with a headache but I did managed to secure and collect a pine blanket box from freecycle that I have been meaning to buy for some time :D Now I have one for free :D Ill give it a paint and it will look perfect in my room :)

Good evening, sorry I've been awful with keeping up with this post and posting! I've had a crazy few weeks, but after looking at my finances properly today, I am more determined than ever (I think I say this every time!) ...to get saving as much as possible! It's time for me to say "no" just that little bit more to make a real difference.

Dyed some towels and a bathmat to give them a new lease of life and save buying new ones.
Made a big lamb and barley soup in the sc, enough for several days.
DD gave me another 6 for 5 voucher from £land which I got tomato feed, plant food and grass seed with. Paid my £5 and got another 6 for 5 voucher!
DD and I ate out, our monthly treat and got 2 meals for the price of one
Hoping for an nsd tomorrow as no plans to go out.
