There is a free one. I've got it and does the job fine.

The one I have is 7.0 and been free ever since I d/l it - it might not be a full version, but i've converted all different file types perfectly, with exception to Quicktime.

don't use realplayer or wmp - both are terrible. Use either vlc or media player classic, with mpc you can get something called real alternative and quicktime alternative to play real media or quicktime stuff via mpc.0
