Homeserve refund

Sorry if its on another thread I have looked but can't find it. I have been offered £97.11 compensation off them for mis selling to me in the first place. Initially the refund was £482.20 but because I used them a couple of times they deducted £400 isn My question is isn't that the reason why you take out insurance and should they deduct the £400 . Any advice very helpful
Thanks Morris

You made a complaint saying you didnt want it or need it and that you wanted the policy voided. You may have used different words but that is what you did. They are putting you in the position you would have been had you not taken it just as you requested. You cannot expect to keep the proceeds of a claim on a policy you are saying you didnt want or need. To do so would be illogical. The companies are quite rightly allowed to deduct rebates, earlier refunds and claim payouts from the refund amount.

Almost certainly they are only paying out because it is a trivial amount. i.e. an auto payout as its cheaper to settle than argue the case.

I think you are rather fortunate to get any refund at all if you actually claimed on the insurance. Your claims show that you had a need for the policy and I suspect your refund was due to the insignificant amount involved.
