Good Morning All
Tru - I am also going shopping with my OH today  he has an unexpected day off work. I dont have too much to get today (funds are too low) but apparently he is buying my Xmas present :j
Quite cold here this morning but if its anything like yesterday it will be very mild later. Lost a whole day yesterday as took DD back to Uni. She will be coming home for Xmas on Thursday but really didnt want to be there at the weekend when some of her housemates had a party. We checked the house and everything was clean and tidy phew.
Have got some leftover lamb out of the freezer which will be turned into lamb stew for OH & DS tonight. I am out at my works Xmas do which I am very much looking forward to - havnt been to a Xmas do for years.
Have a great day all.x0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Sorry I haven't been on for a while, just felt I didn't have much to say. I am enjoying all the christmas madness though, our decs are up, most of the pressies are wrapped and I've booked a tesco delivery just before christmas for all the special bits and pieces for dinner.
DD13 is staying home today as she is full of cold and feels rubbish so I decided she can stay in the warm and recover. DD12 is sulking because she has to walk to school on her own and DD11 is her normal sunny self.
I have my friend visiting this morning and so I need to get a wiggle on and tidy up and get dressed. I can't decide what to have for tea. I think I'm going to make a bolognaise sauce from the Hairy Dieters book as I have all the ingredients in for that.
Hope you all have a great day, take care and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Good morning everyone,
Gonzo-congratulations
Camelot- so glad you're in your new home,it's been a bit of a marathon hasn't it.
I've got plans for going to the retail park today to get DS1s pressie and also some bits for a hamper type gift bag which me and my friend always sort out for each other, she is coming next week & we are going out for lunch so better get it sorted.
DH and I are also owners of tickly throats-just having manuka and lemon to try and fight it off,we've got our christmas do with friends this weekend.Baby Grandson has a cold and is waking up a lot in the night cos his nose is blocked up and feeding is hard too, bless him.
I'm going to shove some beef in the sc before I go out so its ready when I get back later. We had leftover pork last night & an odd sausage or two to stretch it as there wasnt really enough for 3 of us.Fried up the lo Sunday roasties too so an easy tea.I love easy teas
I sat and wrote all the Xmas cards out yesterday-took me ages. There are some I'm trying to whittle off my list so I've left them for now.If I get one off them I'll just write them out as and when, as I dont want to be rude( or the 1st to stop) but sometimes wonder what is the point of sending one for example to someone I worked with in the 70s,and have def not met up with since the 80s and prob wouldnt even recognise if I did
(specially when they need stamps) Must remember the stamps today and get them posted.I usually make all my cards, but time constraints due to demanding puppies and Grandchildren and renovating DS2s house meant I only managed half of them this year.....ah well.
I think I'll take Lyla out in the fields first before I meet a friend with her dog on the field at the front. Her dog is getting on now,and friend cant walk very far either and pup gets a bit frustrated I think so I usually carry on after but I want to get the 9.30 bus, though it still looks darkish as yet.
A fair number of the dogs I see in the afternoon have had kennel cough so need to avoid them.
Hope you all have a good day.xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning all,
Flying visit from me, running late.
Just wanted to say I am thinking of Hilstep this week xx
And Camelot, Yay at last, so glad it all went ok xxxx
Jools, have a huge hug lovely, I know its a really hard time for you xx0 -
Morning all,
pale grey with clouds here, with a few decorative seagulls toning in.
I can hear the road sweeping van-thing going along, a good two hours later than last time I heard it; there aren't as many parked cars so maybe it can clear some of the gutters of dead leaves, instead of running down the middle of the road at 7am. The drain at the bottom won't get so clogged next time it rains - it floods right across the road.
Speaking of parking, 4 am somebody was shouting in the road and I heard a slamming noise so got up to check the car from the window - there was an ambulance and a police car in the road. The police presence worried me, but DH says it is common practice nowadays - horrible for the ambulance men to be so unappreciated.
I can't match Jackie's social whirl but we are going out for a meal tonight at the Harvester and we'll catch a bit of shopping at the nearby Morrisons afterwards.
Today I really must iron, one of the ladies from chapel arrived on the doorstep unexpectedly, stayed for two hours and forced me not to iron. I did try begging, but she insisted I sat and had a chat...:o:o:o:o
Camelot - happy new home!
sistercas - what is in your nice advent calendar? mine was a smiling child in a nightie.
Hilstep - thinking of you
Hugs all round xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Hi everyone,
Everyone is so busy you'd hink something important is coming up .
I managed to clear and clean my sewing room (aka the dining room) yesterday, although we don't need it this Christmas.
Today I must make the cake and a cottage pie to take up to mums when I visit on Thursday. I also need to go to the tip, the charity shop and the post office this morning and continue cleaning the house.
See you later.0 -
Thanks for the congrats guys :-) the ring is off getting resized and I won't get it back till Monday, the smeagol in me wants it NOW.
Finally have a gap in our social calendar, so planning a good few weeks indoors.
Going to clean kitchen and bathroom tonight, dinner is quorn escalopes, new potatoes and sweetcorn.
Back to healthy eating and exercise after 4 days off, my run this morning wasn't as bad as I was expecting, so pleased. So tired though!
Camelot - enjoy settling into the new abode!0 -
Morning all,
I had good expectations for a good nights sleep last night but it didn't work out that way. The girls didn't settle well. Ginge was missing her Dad and Mills must have sensed the unease.
For 15 years hubby has been working away and ive been sleeping on my own but I swear i'll never get used to getting into an empty bed. I cant say I was cold as I had put the electric blanket on and I suppose the 'Girls' didn't help either but I fell asleep playing games on my phone... Come this morning I had a message and couldn't find my phone!
'Youngest' went Christmas shopping after college last night. 'What am getting everyone?' he asked. So there I was furiously texting (is it only mine but do all kids just text these days?). I gave him a few ideas, reminding on him he hasn't got a job and to only spend a small amount on each person.
Don't have a lot to do today, its amazing the difference one person less has on the place.
I need to groom and brush the 'Girls' sometime today. Their trousers and skirts are all knotty and their ears are badly in need of a good trim too.
Sweet and sour with rice for tea tonight. Another thing hubby doesn't like but me and 'Youngest' do.
Hilstep thinking of you
Gonzo I hear congratulations are in order... So congratulations!

Afternoon all
Nearly finished the Xmas shopping, just one more, a magazine, to get closer to Xmas for a secret Santa.
Just off out for a walk along the coastline,it's a lovely day down here, washing on line but I think not windy enough to completely dry.
Just finalising meal plans until Xmas and doing list for Xmas week, our Xmas dinner will be 29 dec after our Aussie family arrive.
Hugs to those who are having a tough time at the moment.Carolbee0 -
Thought I'd join in. Tried joining in a few years ago, but I always seem to get sidetracked!
I'm not very OS me, I do try. But in the last few years, my life has been all over the place. Bf leaving me with two small children, trying to get my life back on track etc. But I am eventually starting to try again. Esp with the old cooking from scratch malarkey.
My kids are so fussy and I do meal plan, so I don't waste very much (although having a dog is very handy sometimes!)
Not much in the way of OS done today as I was at work. Love reading the stories of everything that people get up to. When I'm at home, I don't tend to do anything, but slob in front of the telly. Either that or if I don't have the kids, I slink off to Mum's house to avoid feeling guilty about housework.
Now that I've got me a laptop, I find it easier to come on here (I used to log on at work, but don't find the time to post, only read).
One thing I was going to ask was is it really worth using a breadmaker. I used to when I had lodgers and there were four men and me in the house. But now I just tend to freeze a loaf that I buy from the shop and take four slices out at a time. My girls only eat toast in the morning and I make a sarnie for work. Girls tend to eat more crackers than anything else.
Ah well, I shall go now, but shall try and come back tomorrow and get more ideas for being OS.
Posted on a few threads recently about my trying out new recipes, but even though I know I'm repeating myself, I'm cooking Slow cook gammon and coke on Friday which is my next day off. The other days are my mum's problem when she has to mind the girlies (haha).Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
