Car insurance advice moving house

Help people

looking for quotes on Car insurance which is due for renewal , currently renting but in process of buying a house hoping to complete by end of Jan

problem is I can get quotes on my current situation for around £300 but the quotes then jump to £550+ once I put in homeowner instead of renting at the address I'm buying & moving to

With AXXA and Swift cover (the two cheapest quotes) they wont even insure in the area I'm moving to!

the area I'm moving to is quieter as well and will have off road parking - i don't understand??

To couple this I have again checked several providers and received quotes for the address I'm buying, and got quotes for around £300 again, but when I then put in the details for my current situation as renting the quotes double again

Is it that some companies only insure renter and not homeowners and vice versa?

It cant be the area I'm moving to as I can get equally good quotes on both properties - I just cant then get a decent quote once I change the address and from renting to owner

I don't want to have to take out cover for my current situation to then have to pay through the nose with a price hike once I move

Was thinking I could try and get cover for 1 or 2 months and then get a 12 month deal once I move but this will be expensive surely anyway

Any advice?

By doing multiple quotes with different addresses/details you run the risk of triggering off the software's anti fraud detetection.

If you want to play with different addresses you need to do this using dummy details.

Have you investigated the crime figures? The change in postcode may be your downfall - only your own driveway, followed by a secured garage will improve this.
  • Go to your local insurance brokers! Forget about the rest! Most insurance advertisers are on high commission, so from my experience! go to your local broker and get a quote! Then decide which is the best option! We are all sucked in by them! but to be honest you may get a better deal locally!

But when I got a quote for the address I'm moving to it was around £300 again, when I then put in my rental address it jumped back up

seems whichever way I do it the price doubles!

    I dont understand

Or it may be that parking the car on the road is cheaper than parking on a driveway or a secured garage
