Claiming on Home Insurance

Hi
I have just purchased a house and got a quote on Tesco for Contents insurance is it was 50% off and the quote is valid for a year. What happens when i make a claim if anything goes wrong as they say i have accidental damage protection on contents for example my laptop. If my laptop worth around £1000 gets broke and i make a claim, would this claim go against me in the future? ie. would future insurance be higher? how does it work?
