Sorrento Hotels - help please!

Hi
I am planning a holiday to sorrento for April next year, but with so many hotels I'm not getting very far. At the moment I can't decide between the Hotel Bristol & Capodimonte. Does anyone have any experience of these hotels? Don't want to be too far away from sorrento town & want good views (which I know we will have to pay for!)

Also interested in any other hotels that anyone can recommend.

Thanks in advance!
If dogs don't go to heaven, then I want to go where they go. :A

Have you looked at the Sorrento forum on Trip advisor? That would be your best bet.

In July 2012 we stayed in the Grand Hotel De La Ville. We paid the extra for a sea view which was worth it. This is the link to the reviews on Tripadvisor http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g187782-d291098-Reviews-Grand_Hotel_De_La_Ville-Sorrento_Province_of_Naples_Campania.html

    Would stay there again.

I stayed at the Minerva Hotel, on Via Capo, and very close to the hotels you have mentioned. It's a small, family run hotel with the same amazing views over the bay as the other two.

But...where this hotel wins hands down for me...the level of customer service is above and beyond most of the other hotels I have ever stayed at.

I'm a Travel Consultant. I'm that despised creature who gets free stays at many of the finest hotels in this country and (sometimes) abroad. as part of my work. I long to go back to the Minerva. From what I've read on Trip Advisor, most of the staff are the same as they have been for years, because a lot of them are from one extended family.

I had the room above reception (506 if I remember correctly) which has one of the larger balconies and the stunning view over the Bay of Naples that Sorrento is famous for.

The 15-20min walk into town is lovely in the evening, but a bit of a slog on the way back if you've had a few limoncellos ;)

The recent reviews say it all...

We stayed at the Hotel Belair in 2011. Wonderful hotel, probably our favourite of the trip, with stunning views. The shot from our balcony is still my facebook image!

The hotel itself is charmingly retro. Everything is clean and works perfectly, but its like taking a gentle step back in time. There was a great tenor singing one night and we could sit on the balcony with a glass of wine listening to him. Overall a charming hotel with incredible views.

    And we loved Sorrento overall.
  • We've stopped here twice in the last five years or so.

    It's been very good.

Positioned two minutes from the absolute centre of town.

No sea views from here though.

The annex rooms at the rear, in an orange grove, are superb (But there's a swimming pool here - not open when we were there!)
