Solar garden lights

We have just moved house and the front garden/entrance is very dark at night. we are thinking of investing in some solar garden lights (possibly the ones with spikes on which you push into the ground or attach to a fence - or similar) but our experience is that they do not emit much light and/or do not last very long. Just wondered if anyone out there have found solar garden lights (any type) which they have used and which they personally recommend. If so, could you let me know the make/model and approxiamte price. Thank you.

No they are all lame, if you actually want light then run some cable.
  • Might work in the middle of summer on the longest day, but useless for the rest of the year - not enough sunlight during winter days to even charge up. I did see some external candle type lights on a shopping channel with batteries that came on for 6 hrs after the solar charge runs out, but I agree that the best solution would be to install cabled lights

The kind that 'plant' in your garden are not very bright, but I have one that fixes to a wall or fence and is motion sensing. It works really well even in 'dullest Scotland'. It has been ideal for lighting a few steps at our garden gate every night.

The one we are using is the the Evo 15. There is a limited offer of 25% off any solar light until Monday 16 December, using promotion code SC25 (I've contacted the company and checked that it's OK to pass on this code).
