JD sports HELP!

Options
So I ordered a gift voucher last weekend from JD Sports for my nephew's birthday. He adores the place! As I live in a fairly rural area (40min drive to either of the closest stores) I decided to place an online order for a gift card from their website for £25. So, despite ordering Sunday night with next day delivery, i didn't get anything until Thursday afternoon. When i received a Royal Mail "couldnt fit this through the door" card. Which i found pretty damn odd being as the order was a gift card :cool: Anyway - Couldnt get to the sorting office until this morning due to being away at weekend. Drove the 20miles to sorting office to pick it up - it was a huge black bag. Bit odd, i thought! Opened it up to find:

* a JD sports promo leaflet
* an empty JD plastic bag
* Delivery note
* A dusty, dirty piece of plastic (kind of a bag) with a ripped piece of label backing (the yellow stuff?) - on that it had a small white label which stated £25 gift, a barcode and a few other bits of code etc.

So obviously this has been placed there in error instead of putting in the gift card, they have put their sticker/note in the bag.

So I ring customer services who politely tell me that my only options are to return the item. Which is hard, as there isnt an item to return. OR i can go to the nearest store, purchase something with the "ripped sticker/label" and then "return the item to the store" (as i dont want an item, i want a gift card) as i will then receive a gift card. But that gift card will show that it is from returning an item. So the recipient will think i have just returned something i didnt want then given the gift card to them! Best part is that i suggested that the store may not accept the "label" as it is literally a ripped piece of paper with half a barcode on it! They then said "yes, thats the risk"...... really?!?!!!

Is it just me who thinks this is all pretty pants?!!

Its not easy for me to get to the stores - hence i ordered online... and now not only have i had to drive to the sorting office and back (40 miles round trip), take 2 hours off work (unpaid!) because they only open until 1pm weekdays BUT i will now have to do a 2 hour round trip to the nearest town to try to use this piece of ripped label to buy something and then return it! :(:(:(
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?
