Royal Mail delivery office telephone numbers?

Hi, does anyone know how to find the telephone number for a royal mail delivery/sorting office that is out of your own area.
I have phoned royal mail but just got an automated post code but cannot find a telephone number for it.
I'm sure there was a thread on here once but I cannot find it now.
Thanks

Call 0845 6050767 and they will give you the address, you may have to look the number up though

Thanks, tried that but the number she gave me just reverts back to a central point even though it was a number with the correct dialing code of the area I need.

Do phone numbers are being non localised
large (high impact) DOs are having calls routed away from them as they simply dont have staffing for calls.
    What is the issue?

I couldn't find any way of contacting my local sorting office when I tried last month. I'm certain its intentional like that. No public calls. In fact if I remember correctly when I went to Royal Mails website to find out where my local office was my only option was to ring a number to listen to an automated system. Its 2013 I can find my nearest Domino's pizza but not my sorting office.

Dominos gets income from phone calls
Delivery offices arent staffed to deal with high volume calls
Thats why they have customer services
    Why were you calling?

    I agree about locations though
There is already a full database available on the intranet, updated monthly
so no reason the required data cant be made available

I don't expect somebody to be there, I was refering to actually finding the location of my local office. You go online to only find a phone number (No option of finding by postcode). Then you ring the number and you listen to a recorded message. Its just backwards.

    Yes,and I agreed with you
    however you said 'contact'
So what was the issue that required contact?

It was only a few months a buyer was claiming non receipt of an item so I phoned their local DO, the staff told me his parcel was sat on the shelf awaiting collection.
Today I had a problem with a buyer getting really quite abusive about non receipt of a parcel and I tried to contact their local DO to see if it was there.
I understand, especially at this time of year a phone may not be answered but I hadn't realised that you could no longer get a direct number for an office.
As is turns out my buyer has left lots of negatives today for items not received so I think they are pulling a fast one.
    Thanks for information custardy
