My sil has a young (18 months) male cat which is suffering from a recurrent Rodent Ulcer on his lip. The only treatment the vet can offer is steroids which are not only costly but not good for his long term health. We're looking for alternative/complimentary/preventative measures. We've done some research and it seems to be an autoimmune/allergy problem. We've also seen that a possible increase in omega 3 and 6 oils could be beneficial. She's changed his bowls to stainless steel ones rather than plastic and keeps them scrupulously clean. I've suggested that maybe raw feeding would be better for him but she's not at all keen. So, anybody got any experience of these ulcers? Anyone got any tips for prevention or recommendations for hypoallergenic food? All advice gratefully received.

I agree with changing to raw and supplementing with Krill oil for omega 3.
I would also buy some Colloidal silver and use this locally to clean the area and to add to the cat's food/water.
