This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Well I think I am now almost ready for Christmas and wrapping will confirm that tonight and tomorrow night.
Am definitely ready to finish work and this is the start of my last full week, then just 4 days next week.
On that subject, I better get going!
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning all, dark and damp looking outside but not too cold thank goodness.
Book club Christmas 'do' this morning so no breakfast for me or I won't be able to eat any of the goodies in store:)
Busy week ahead and lots of too-ing and fro--ing I think.
I feel the need for a hot cuppa though so I'm off to put the kettle on and have a shower ,that will wake my up a bit:)
Have a good day what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning everyone
JackieO - enjoy your Christmas do!
Will be getting up and having a shower then breakfast before work.
Think I am pretty much done present-wise for Christmas. We are going to BF's mums for Christmas dinner, so no cooking for me, however I want to try making mince pies to take with me. I have never made them before! I have a jar of mincemeat and I am planning to add a few cranberries and some white chocolate chips to the mix to make it a bit different!
On Boxing Day, BF's brother has 2 friends coming over from Germany for a week, and we are having a second Christmas dinner with them, so I am going to make some chocolate muffins and decorate them with a drizzle of white chocolate and holly sprinkles to make them look like Christmas puddings!
Off out after work to see a band so I am going to be very tired tomorrow!
Hope everyone is well and has a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -

I need to go into town one day this week, it's really not my favourite thing to do so I'm psyching myself up. I should be ready by thursday
I'll wrap the presents this afternoon. Every year, I have a vision of how it will be. The paper, tape and gift tags are at one end of the kitchen table and the gifts are in an arranged pile at the other end. I calmly work my way through them, Annie Lennox's Christmas CD is playing in the background and I sip my small glass of wine. The reality is – I'm in the lounge, the coffee table has been shoved up the other end of the room, presents are heaped on the sofa, I'm wrapping on the floor, the tape gets tangled (how? it's on a dispenser), the paper rips, the scissors are suddenly gone - even though I had them in my hand two seconds ago and I haven't moved - the little box of gift tags somehow ends up under the sofa at the back and I have to lie on my tummy to get them back out using a broom handle. Slade is blaring from the stereo, I've drunk a bottle of wine and I'm only halfway through the job :rotfl:Bulletproof0 -
Morning all,
Tru your wrapping sounds like mine, the further down the bottle I get the worse the presents are wrapped !
It was very cold here in the night I woke up a couple of times really cold, I am surprised there is no frost here this morning.
Off to work for dd and I, will drop little dog off at my mums and then dd to work before going on myself, I have to post an ebay parcel on the way home, only took the bloke 10 days to pay !
Gnocci garlic bread and salad for dinner, nice and quick, and I need to do this weeks shopping and start on the xmas food shop.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
tru - sounds like my wrapping - hate the job more than actually figuring out what to buy people!
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
It's my DS1's 17th birthday today - can't believe where the years have gone so quickly!
Still dark here, but sounds quite blustery again, but doesn't look to have been a frost.
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.
Late lunch yesterday was at 3pm had the slow cooker casserole that I prepped and got in the slow cooker first thing yesterday morning. We went off to visit DH's grandad and aunt - when we got to grandad's his uncle from away was there for a few days but it had all been a bit last minute as they'd had bad snow and he wasn't sure if the visit was going to happen. So was a great to see him and had a while to catch up. Saw DH's aunt too and had a coffee and catch up there. Got both their prezzies delivered, so that's 2 less to worry about. Once we got back and had eaten we didn't really do much - I just did some surfing on here - had a couple of little jobs to do.
Back to work today - no doubt it will be a manic Monday - the day will go quicker though. It's not long since I had some time off, but really looking forward to having some time off over xmas - due to how my days I work fall and the opening hours and statutory days I finish on 23 Dec (have taken 24th Dec off as holiday as we only work until lunchtime that day anyway) then I'm off until 6 Jan - due to us being shut on days that I would normally work and then being open on days that I don't - so will get a nice break. I only go back for 1 week then have my last weeks' annual leave booked so have over 2 weeks off within the next 4-5 weeks!
I'm taking DS2 into school this morning as he has extra maths after school tonight and it's too late for him to cycle home alone afterwards, I'll collect him on my way home from work. We'll stop off at the SM and pick up a couple of fresh pizzas for DS1's birthday - birthday person always gets to chose the dinner they want and this is what he's chosen. Dinner will be pizza, chips/jacket potato, and salad, chocolate birthday cake for dessert.
Keep safe and well x

Hi everyone,
Tru, I get DH to do ours, he's much more methodical than me - I lose patience very quickly - just wish I could get him to wrap his own presents.
Up early and I'll have a quick trip to MK to pick up the last (I hope) of the presents. Then I shall take some stuff to the charity shop and do some cleaning and sewing.
We had indian takeaway last night, but I only ate half - the rest went in the freezer. I've gone off chinese takeaway since I had food poisoning in February, I make my own now using Gok Wan's recipes, they are really good.0 -

Oh, this sounds exactly like my wrapping, Tru - just add two very 'helpful' cats and you've got it!...It's my DS1's 17th birthday today - can't believe where the years have gone so quickly!...
Happy Birthday to him!
I've been MIA for a bit recovering from M's stroke. She's doing really well, back at home and mobile. It really took a toll on me too though and it's taken a while to get back to something approaching normal.
Had a lovely long lie this morning (7:15am!) and ready to get up and at em!Household: Laura + William-cat
