Can't Get a Basic Account - Help!!!

My situation is that I'm on a DMP with CCCS and have had a few defaults applied as a result. I earn a good salary which is paid into the Halifax. I want to claim my charges from Halifax as they run into thousands. This will clear my overdraft and go towards other debts. Generally the advice I have read is to get a parachute account before I do this.
I want a clean slate that I can get my salary paid in, withdraw what I need and leave the rest for bills. I don't want an overdraft and I can live without a debit card if need be.
I have applied for the Co-op Cashminder and been turned down. I have did the online application for Citibank and had the form returned for me to sign and send the necessary documents. I haven't done this as I'm sure they will turn me down to.
Has anyone any idea what I can do? I thought basic accounts were available for all but this obviously isn't the case.
My creditors are:
Barclays
Cahoot
Halifax
Egg
so obviously I can't go with anyone connected.
Thanks in advance.

Try Lloyds.
Their Cash Account as been great for me. The only thing with it is that they dont give you a debit card. You have to go into a branch to open it, but they did it there and then, no problem.0 -
