Free photo editing program

My Photoshop is a quite an old one and will not work on my laptop windows 7 can anyone recommend a similar free one.

I picked up CS2 for free from Adobe use it on Windows 7 no problem.

Note license key is already on page.

Another vote for GIMP - it's close to Photoshop CS4 or 5.

Although I have never used it yet, Pixlr Editor seems to get good reviews.

A lot of older versions of Photoshop can be persuaded to run nicely enough on W7/64 bit machines - Sometimes there is a little lag on opening files due to the way they are handled in memory but other than that, its all fine.

A shufty round the various PS user forums - incl Adobe's own should turn-up a fix.

Other than that, Hornil Style Pix (free version) and Faststone Image Viewer are the ones I'm currently advising the people I deal with to go for as they are both reasonably capable but not resource heavy.

Gimp variants are indeed very useful for more advanced purposes but IME tend to be overcomplicated/overkill for many people's needs.
