electrical item repaired and broken again

purchased item online from an electrical shopping site, had item for three months and it broke down I contacted the site and returned item which was repaired and sent back to me Had the item two weeks used it 3 times and it has broken down again. Have emailed company again but have had no reply yet as it is the weekend, question can i insist on a replacement I dont want it repaired again. Or can I get a refund as I dont think the item to have been fit for purpose.

    You can ask for whichever remedy you prefer... repair, replacement or refund.
    But you cannot force the seller to provide a remedy which is disproportionate.
    So effectively, the seller chooses the remedy.

    Be aware that after six months you may need to prove that the fault isn't due to misuse, etc.
    Up until six months any fault is assumed to be inherent and it is for the seller to prove otherwise.

    Only one thing to add to the above informative response.

    A repair/replacement should be carried out within a reasonable time and without causing significant inconvenience.

    If its a tv, its unlikely to cause a significant inconvenience not having one for a few weeks. However if its a fridge freezer.....I think most people would consider it a significant inconvenience to be without one for a few weeks.
