Windows 8.1 and no internet.

I have been given a copy of windows 8.1 from a friend who has bought a new computer so no longer needs it.

I have a computer that I use for video editing and is not connected to the internet and never will be.

If I need to transfer files I use an external USB drive.

I already have Windows 8.1 and prefer it over Vista which is on my video editing computer.

Before I go to through imaging my Vista computer, so I can restore it if needed, then wiping it clean to install windows 8.1, then adding more memory, will windows 8.1 run on a computer never connected to the internet and never be able to get any updates?

No it will fail to activate .
But if the Windows 8.1 is a retail disc unused or removed from a computer then you will probably be able to activate by phone after the initial fail to activate no internet message .

Does microsoft not realise that not everyone is connected to the internet.

The computer is in a place that does not even have a phoneline never mind broadband. Thank goodness for mobiles.

I connect to the internet on this laptop when I visit my inlaws.
