More car scratches

Options
Around almost 2 years ago I posted here regarding the scratching of our car over a few nights. This stopped and for 2 years it has been a relief but I always check the car and try to get it parked outside our house. Today (of all days as my mum has been taken to hospital after a fall down the stairs) I find my car outside the house has a new deep scratch and well as scribbling in scratches. I am just gutted that I now have this worry to contend with again on top of the worry of my mum (who is ok now) . We have a nice 2002 Polo which is our best car but some nasty, evil git has to spoil it and knock off it's value. It's just so depressing. I have reported each incident (4 in total) to the police but they can do nothing.

Is there any point in me investing in CCTV for either inside the car or outside the house ?

I'd say yes, CCTV in your house to watch it outside, if more often than not you can park it there.

A couple of weeks ago my friend had her visitors car bashed while parked outside her house. Asked neighbour opposite if she knew anything about it (as the 'bash' was at the side, like someone had reversed out of their drive and straight into it).

Neighbour swore blind "it wasn't me". Friend remembered another neighbour has CCTV which luckily picked up the incident. The neighbour had hit it, even seen getting out to have a look, looking round, then driving off.

My friend confronted her again, and she finally admitted it and agreed to pay for the damage. Me, I'm not so lenient, I'd have gone through the insurer and the Police.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

A 2002 polo must be worth a few hundred quid at most.........?

Thats not the point. It now looks a mess and the scratches will wipe a couple of hundred off the value.

i'd say CCTV is the way to go...maybe situated in the window of a front bedroom or on the outside. Do you have any suspiscions of who is vandalising your car.
It does'nt matter what your car is worth it is your property and no one has any right to cause damage to your car and distress to yourself.
Hope your mum is feeling better.

I have no idea who it is. Some evil scumbag undercover of darkness. I can't even get the car parked outside the house at the best of times because neighbours have more than one car. Some despite having private driveway still park outside our houses.

Get cctv. Just because your car isnt brand new doesnt give people the right to damage it! Hope you catch them

Are the scratches deep (i.e. to the base paint), or on the surface?
What parts of the car are they on (the sides, roof, bonnet, boot, etc)?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

They have dug something quite deep into the handle area of the door which has gone down to white. It has carried on to the side bodywork around the window. Previously they have scratched both doors full length.

Sounds like a couple of delightful yobs having a bit of "fun" on their way home. I would agree with going down the CCTV route, it could well be one of your neighbors or someone else who lives near by.
