High street photo printing service and new printer

I've two questions that relate to photo printing service and printing photos using a printer at home.
I've never used an high street photo printing service before so I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations. As far as I'm aware of the ones that I've in my area are Boots and Max Spielmann. Although I once used Max Spielmann to print passport sized photos, I looked like I had jaundice!
All this time I was using my AiO Kodak 7250 printer but I'm not satisfied with the quality of the photo prints. If you guys also have any AiO (with wifi) printer recommendations that give good print quality with remanufactured inks, that will be appreciated. Are Canon Pixma printers any good with compatible cartridges?
Thanks.

Have used Max Spielmann and Asda for printing photos from the same camera. Spielmann was much better quality.0
